Abstract
MOST JUDGES, ACCORDING TO THE AUTHOR, TEND TO SIDE WITH THE HUSBAND IN A WIFE-BEATING CASE. THIS, THEREFORE, CREATES SPECIAL PROBLEMS FOR THE FEMALE VICTIM. THE AUTHOR, A FEMALE ATTORNEY WHO HAS REPRESENTED BATTERED WIVES, DESCRIBES HOW TO INTERVIEW BATTERED WOMEN TO GET THE MOST INFORMATION FROM THEM FOR THE COURT HEARING. PROBLEMS OF PROTECTING THE CLIENT FROM FURTHER ATTACKS BY THE HUSBAND ARE ALSO EXAMINED, AS WELL AS ENFORCING A FAVORABLE JUDGEMENT. IN THE FINAL SECTION, THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES SOME OF THE FAILINGS OF THE LEGAL SYSTEM REGARDING BATTERED WIVES....BDS
