Abstract
The manual explains rescue skills and techniques to those who are training for rescue service in peacetime or attack-caused emergencies. It describes the rescue squad's tools and equipment and provides instructions for their use. The equipment encompasses rope, ladders, lifting devices, protective breathing equipment, cutting tools, tunneling and debris-removal tools, lighting and power equipment, and equipment available from other services. The manual also explains the wide range of operations that squad members perform, such as lashings, holdfasts, rigging, slings, debris tunneling, trenching, breaching walls, ventilation, raising and supporting structural elements, debris handling, and casualty handling. The manual also contains information on basic types of building construction and the ways in which buildings may collapse due to a blast or other causes.
