Abstract
After completing this course material, students should be able to outline the basics of crisis intervention; plan a response to crime victims that is appropriate to their role as an intern; model effective communication with crime victims; identify how and when they may encounter crime victims in their internship; and list possible impacts of and reactions to crime victimization for individuals. Courses suggested for where this material can be used include the classroom portion of a criminal justice internships course and internships courses in disciplines such as psychology, sociology, social work, and political science. For each slide in the PowerPoint presentation, instructional content and presentation suggestions are provided. The classroom time required for this course segment is 21/2 hours. National resources for crime victims are listed.
