This VHS videocassette presents a training scenario for emergency first responders encountering a possible weapons of mass destruction (WMD) crime scene.
Abstract
Emergency responders may not have all the information about the event they are responding to and, as such, it is imperative that first responders are familiar with WMD incidents and how they should be handled. This training video presents an emergency scenario that teaches first responders how to recognize, identify, and preserve a WMD crime scene so that valuable evidence is not lost or contaminated. Two response scenarios are presented to a call about an explosion at a private residence; the first response highlights improper procedures while the second response highlights proper protocol for a WMD incident. The two response scenarios take the viewer all the way through the process from the first call to dispatch to the initial site investigation after the victims have been attended to. The incorrect response is critiqued at each step and recommendations on best WMD response practices are offered throughout the video by the trainer, Thomas Lewis.
