Based on research and practical program experience, this manual provides guidelines for developing a prototypical intensive supervision program.
Abstract
An overview summarizes the development and current status of intensive supervision programs and notes that these programs change the way in which they are intensive by shifting the emphasis from exclusively incapacitative and punitive measures to a more integrated approach of interventions and risk-control strategies. Additional sections discuss how to target a high risk/need population, establish an objectives-based management system, provide effective supervision strategies, include community involvement, and manage internal and external factors that affect the operations of an intensive supervision program.
