This report surveys the findings and conclusions of the National Manpower Survey, which assessed existing and future personnel needs in the fields of law enforcement, corrections, and courts, as well as the adequacy of programs designed to meet criminal justice education and training needs.
Abstract
The report summarizes current manpower assessments for police, courts, and corrections and presents manpower projections to 1985. It also discusses the possible recruitment, education, and training needs for these personnel. The report discusses Federal assistance programs for criminal justice training and education, covering FBI programs, law enforcement training academies, law schools, management training and education, and the Law Enforcement Education Program. A separate section gives a current and projected assessment of manpower needs in juvenile corrections as well as education and training needs in the field. The survey indicates the pressing demand for technology in such areas as task analysis, determining training/educational needs, curriculum development, evaluation, and human resource planning in long-term perspective. Tables are included.
