This report describes the organizational structure, programs, and activities of the Rhode Island Division of State Police during the 1991 fiscal year.
Abstract
Colonel Edmond S. Culhane, Jr. became the Superintendent of the State Police after serving 26 years for the New York State Police Department. The Uniform Branch consisted of 95 troopers located in five barracks throughout the State. It responded to 7,160 complaints and resolved 96.5 percent of them by June 30, 1991. The Uniform Division responded to property and violent crimes, accidents, and other problems. The Detective Division investigated many types of serious crimes. Patrol officers focused on reducing driving under the influence of alcohol and on other measures to improve highway safety. Figures, tables, and photographs
