Abstract
THE INTRODUCTORY SECTION PRESENTS SUGGESTIONS ON HOW A CONVICT MAY ACT AS HIS OWN LAWYER. IN THE SUCCEEDING SECTIONS, THE AUTHOR PROVIDES CONCISE INFORMATION ON SUCH TOPICS AS THE OPERATION OF THE BASIC LEGAL SYSTEM RIGHTS BEFORE CONVICTION, AVOIDING MANY OF THE COSTS OF A LAWSUIT, POST-CONVICTION REMEDIES, PRISONERS' RIGHTS, PAROLE, PREPARING LEGAL PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS, AND REGAINING LOST RIGHTS. THE APPENDIXES INCLUDE BASIC LEGAL FORMS FOR A CIVIL ACTION IN FEDERAL COURT. IMPORTANT FEDERAL STATUTORY PROVISIONS, AND A LIST OF SOURCES FOR ADDITIONAL RESEARCH.
