Advance work is a critical component of any comprehensive executive protection program, because security professionals can recognize potentially dangerous situations during this stage.
Abstract
Advance work includes the activities and arrangements made before and in connection with the trip of an executive. The goal of advance work is to minimize the risk to the executive, establish a secure area, provide information essential to protection, and allow the executive to spend the majority of the time on business-related activities. Expenses for advance work include airfare, taxi, car service, hotel room, meals, and salary. Advance work includes five components: the pre-advance, which lays the foundation for the entire process; the selection of transportation and routes; selection of the hotels; determination of the sites to be visited; and the post- advance, which includes thank-you letters and a report of the trip.
