Abstract
ALONG WITH THE DISCUSSION OF THE NEED FOR A DETAILED PROGRAM OF IMPLEMENTATION, THE REPORT PRESENTS AN ESTIMATED COST ANALYSIS. MEMBERS OF THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT MADE A BROAD REVIEW OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IN ROANOKE AND SPOKE WITH LOCAL OFFICIALS CONCERNING THEIR DESIRE FOR ASSISTANCE IN MODERNIZING COURT OERATIONS. IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE AUTOMATED SYSTEM WAS JUSTIFIED FOR USE IN ROANOKE, AND THAT FURTHER TECHNICAL ADVISORY ASSISTANCE SHOULD BE PROVIDED TO ROANOKE OFFICIALS. THE SPECIFIC AREAS FOR APPLYING THE ASSISTANCE WERE IDENTIFIED AS FOLLOWS: THE SETTING OF BOUNDARIES AND DATA ELEMENTS FOR THE FELONY INFORMATION SYSTEM, THE INITIAL DESIGN, AND THE PREPARATION OF GENERALIZED FLOW CHARTS FOR THE INFORMATION SYSTEM. APPENDED TO THE REPORT IS A BIBLIOGRAPHY TO PROVIDE BACKGROUND IN THE FIELD OF SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY AND IMPROVED JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)..KAP
