Abstract
Because prosecution plays an important role in every criminal justice system throughout the world, the course focused on prosecution systems of various countries. The course covered the organizational structure and role of prosecution, investigation, indictment, trial proceedings, punishment, and public prosecutor involvement in national criminal policy development. The course included lectures, individual presentations, group workshops, visits with various organizations and individuals, and special events. Training sessions and group workshops emphasized drawbacks and problems in police investigations, prosecution approaches in overcoming these problems, prosecution's role in screening criminal cases, the establishment of a case against the defendant, speedy trial, and sentencing.
