CRITICISM OF THE CHURCH FOR ITS LACK OF SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND RESPONSIBILITY.
Abstract
BY FLEEING TO SURBURBIA, THE CHURCH IS ACCUSED OF FOSTERING ITS OWN ISOLATION AND ENCOURAGING DE FACTO SEGREGATION. CHURCH PROGRAMS ARE CHARACTERIZED AS BEING UNIMAGINATIVE AND IRRELEVANT TO THE NEEDS OF BLACKS AND OTHER MINORITIES. NEVERTHELESS, THE CHURCH IS REGARDED AS PLAYING A POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN CRIME AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION. ACTIONS, WHICH A CHURCH COULD ADOPT TO ACCEPT THIS ROLE, ARE SUGGESTED.
