In the Philippines, a wide range of non-governmental organizations are involved in the prevention and reduction of drug abuse.
Abstract
Because of their commitment to and involvement in an avowed partnership with the government to promote care and quality of life for young people, non-governmental organizations are combating the problems of drug abuse. The Dangerous Drugs Board, the government's policy making and coordinating body, in cooperation with non-governmental organizations, has made drug abuse prevention programs more viable and relevant. The cooperation promoted resource sharing and generated a more balanced approach towards program planning and implementation. The unified government services and non-governmental organizations have adopted the models and strategies that are action oriented and intended to promote positive values and attitudes, self-development, creative productivity, and skills in young people. 19 references.
