Abstract
The seminar lasted 5 weeks, during which time participants examined recent manifestations of crime that have been transformed by social development such as industrialization, urbanization, and advancements in science and technology. The seminar provided a forum for the exchange of information and views on how social change has altered the nature of crime and the response required from the criminal justice system. Seminar topics covered public prosecutors, right to speedy trial, sentencing guidelines, criminal justice system responsiveness, ways of strengthening criminal investigations, and criminal justice systems in several countries.
