THE USE OF TRANSMITTED LIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY, X-RAY SHADOWGRAPHY, AND MICRORADIOGRAPHY IN IDENTIFYING WATERMARKS AND SECURITY THREADS OF CURRENTY IS DESCRIBED.
Abstract
EXAMPLES OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS PRODUCED USING EACH OF THESE TECHNIQUES ARE PROVIDED FOR GENUINE AND FORGED CURRENCY NOTES. IT IS STATED THAT THE ADVANTAGE OF USING X-RAY SHADOWGRAPHY OVER TRANSMITTED LIGHT PHOGRAPHY IS THAT THE FORMER CLEARLY DETERMINES THE DETAILS WITH DIMENSIONS OF WATERMARKS IN THE PRINTED AREAS OF THE NOTES.
