This manual for the Royal Hong Kong Police is designed to prepare the police against major civil disturbances and to guide them in their operations during any such disturbances.
Abstract
The guide explains the principles of riot suppression, tactics, and basic formations. It sets out basic principles regarding the use of force and firearms, discusses force readiness, and command and control. Also covered are administrative and logistics support, basic drill and movements, and platoon tactics. Column patrols, training, and the various departments (criminal investigation, communications, etc., are covered. Several chapters focus on first aid procedure, flash demonstrations, prisoners, crowd psychology, explosive devices, and house entering and searching. Additional procedures are appended.
