INTENDED FOR USE IN ROLL CALL OR CLASSROOM TRAINING SESSIONS, THIS TRAINING KEY PROVIDES A CONCISE LESSON ON TYPES OF SAFES, METHODS OF ENTRY, AND THE KINDS OF EVIDENCE TO BE COLLECTED AT THE SCENE OF A SAFECRACKING.
Abstract
THE DIFFERENCES IN CONSTRUCTION AND PURPOSE FOR VARIOUS KINDS OF SAFES ARE DISCUSSED. SEVERAL METHODS OF SAFECRACKING USING FORCE ARE DESCRIBED, INCLUDING PUNCH ATTACK, PEEL OR RIP ATTACK, CHOP ATTACK, DRILL ATTACK, TORCH ATTACK, AND CARRY-OFF. THE COMBINATIONS OF ATTACKS THAT MAY BE USED ARE ALSO NOTED. POSSIBLE MEANS OF OPENING SAFES WITHOUT FORCEFUL ATTACKS ARE INDICATED. MOST OF THESE INVOLVE METHODS OF DISCOVERING THE COMBINATION TO A SAFE BY MANIPULATING THE SAFE LOCK, SEARCHING FOR A WRITTEN RECORD OF THE COMBINATION, OR OBSERVING EMPLOYEES USING THE SAFE. FINALLY, THE TYPES OF EVIDENCE THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN AT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME ARE DISCUSSED. IN ADDITION TO THE LESSON, THIS KEY INCLUDES QUESTIONS ON THE LESSON, SUGGESTIONS FOR RELATED READING, AND ANSWERS TO THE TRAINING KEY QUESTIONS. BROAD DISCUSSION QUESTIONS RELATING TO THE LESSON TOPIC ARE ALSO PROVIDED IN THE BULLETIN.
