Abstract
The section of the guide that deals with strategies is categorized by the disciplines of law enforcement, health and social services, and schools and community. Law-enforcement-based strategies encompass law enforcement/mental health teams; law enforcement/school/community partnerships; law enforcement/domestic violence advocate teams; and offender-oriented interventions. Health and social services-based strategies include descriptions of crisis response teams, counseling services, family support services, home visitation, and training for professionals. School and community-based strategies address family/school partnerships, parental education and involvement, school/community partnerships, and classroom-based curriculum. Information is provided on agencies that have developed programs based on each type of strategy. Another section of this guide provides brief descriptions of two communities, San Francisco and Contra Costa, that have put strategies and programs into action. The evaluation and funding resources sections of the guide provide information on these areas of program development. Appended list of 18 youth violence prevention resources
