A PROGRESS REPORT ON THIS PROGRAM DESIGNED TO REDUCE CRIME IN TARGET AREAS OF SALT LAKE CITY THROUGH SUCH MEANS AS REDUCING CRIME OPPORTUNITIES AND RESPONSE TIME AND INCREASING COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND CLEARANCE RATES.
Abstract
AMONG THE AREAS DISCUSSED IN THIS REPORT ARE THE PROJECT WORK SCHEDULE, PROGRAM CHANGES, MORALE AND PERSONNEL TURNOVER PROBLEMS, LIMITATIONS AND PROBLEMS WITH AN OUTSIDE EVALUATION CONDUCTED ON THE SPACE PROGRAM, AND SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS. A SUMMARY OF SPACE PROGRESS FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF OPERATION RELATIVE TO THE PROGRAM OBJECTIVES IS ALSO PROVIDED. INFORMATION ON PROJECT COSTS, A DESCRIPTION OF FINANCIAL REPORTING EFFORTS, AND STATISTICS ON CLEARANCES OF PART I CRIMES ARE INCLUDED AS WELL. OTHER MATERIALS PROVIDED IN THIS REPORT INCLUDE TARGET AREA DATA, COPIES OF RELEVANT CORRESPONDENCE, AN ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN REPORTED CRIMES DURING PROGRAM OPERATION, RESULTS OF A SPACE PERSONNEL OPINION SURVEY, AN ANALYSIS OF HOUSEHOLD AND BUSINESS SURVEYS, AN ARREST ANALYSIS OF PART I CRIMES IN THE SPACE TARGET AREAS, AND A STUDY OF ARRIVAL TIMES FOR SPACE PATROLS.
