Abstract
DURING 1976, THE DEPARTMENT DISPATCHED A PATROL CAR FOR CITIZEN SERVICE EVERY 1-1/2 MINUTES. MAJOR OFFENSES TOTALED 41,511, OR ONE EVERY 12.7 MINUTES. TOTAL OFFENSES WERE 67,067, OR ONE EVERY 7.8 MINUTES. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS INCLUDED SCHOOL VISITS, PRESENTATIONS TO GROUPS, AND AN ACTIVE RIDE-ALONG PROGRAM FOR ADULTS REPRESENTING COMMUNITY GROUPS AND SELECTED JUVENILES. A NEIGHBORHOOD CRISIS TEAM HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN DEFUSING A NEIGHBORHOOD CRISIS TEAM HAS BEEN ACTIVE IN DEFUSING AND MONITORING A THREATENED MAJOR RACIAL NEIGHBORHOOD CRISIS IN SOUTH SAN JOSE.
