EVALUATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE COUNTY-WIDE DRUG ABUSE PROGRAM WITH THE BROAD OBJECTIVES OF PROVIDING DRUG PREVENTION, TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION AS WELL AS RELIEF FOR THE LOCAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE CENTER OPERATES TWO FACILITIES: AN OUTPATIENT COUNSELING CLINIC AND A RESIDENTIAL THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY FOR DRUG DEPENDENT PERSONS. SERVICES OFFERED INCLUDE FREE INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING, A 24-HOUR CRISES, LINE, IN-SCHOOL COUNSELING, 'SCREENING' FOR THE COUNTY DETOXIFICATION PROGRAM; AND CONSULTATION AND TRAINING TO COMMUNITY AGENCIES. THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THE CENTER'S DEVELOPMENT IN RESPONSE TO NEEDS FOR MORE AND WIDER SERVICES AND OUTLINES THE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES NOW OFFERED. IT ALSO PRESENTS EVIDENCE OF THE CENTER'S SUCCESS IN PROVIDING GENERAL AID TO ITS CLIENTS, IN HANDLING DIVERSION REFERRALS, AND IN REDUCING DRUG ABUSE, DRUG-RELATED CRIME AND DRUG-RELATED RECIDIVISM. ADDENDA TO THE REPORT PROVIDE A STATISTICAL BREAKDOWN OF THE CENTER'S CLIENTS ALONG WITH MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ON SOME OF ITS PROCEDURES AND PROPOSALS.
