The Saskatchewan Police Commission (SPC) report deals with the organizational structure and activities of the SPC for the period of April 1st, 1989 through March 31st, 1990.
Abstract
It defines the role of the Commission regarding preservation of peace and prevention of crime in a community, upgrading police services, and standards of policing. It lists the administrative staff of the Commission office and police college and their accommodations and provides an organizational chart. Services provided by both municipal police as well as Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are categorized into services provided for cities, towns, and villages. Use of firearms by both municipal and mounted police is detailed. Trends in major crime are presented. Activities reported upon include Commission meetings, visits, crime prevention, public complaints, ombudsman's review of complaints, Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, Canadian Police College, Fourteenth Annual Symposium of Provincial Police Commissions, complaints to Human Rights Commission, appeals to Commission, RCMP Public Complaints Commission, and Commission budgets. Statistical data are also provided about the Saskatchewan Police College regarding police training, recruit training, in-service training, and training enrollment during the fiscal year 1989/90.
