Annotation
Hosted by Valerie Brisco-Hooks, winner of three gold medals at the 1984 Olympics, this film explores why juveniles use alcohol and drugs and their effects on health and performance, followed by advice on how youth can resist peer pressure to use drugs and alcohol.
Abstract
Designed for children ages 9 through 12, the film portrays ways to say 'no' to peers under friendly pressure, the pressure of a dare from friends, indirect pressure, and heavy pressure to use dangerous substances. The film is also designed to build self-esteem, assertiveness, and an awareness of positive alternatives to drug use among viewers. A study guide is available in both English and Spanish.
