This two-part training manual is designed to prepare countywide or school district-wide action teams to train local teams in the development and implementation of plans for preventing and reducing juvenile violence and to promote resiliency and the healthy development of all youth.
Abstract
The first day of training covers the following topics: the purpose of the training, violence as a public health issue, methods of assessing local perceptions about violence, methods of promoting resiliency and strengthening protective factors against violence, the assessment of local training capacity, training content and resources, and the concept and policies related to zero tolerance. The second day focuses on prevention programs and promising practices, intervention services, responses to crisis, community action planning, and sources of technical assistance and other resources. The manual presents outcomes, an outline of responsibilities for a training consortium, guidelines for planning and marketing, and background information and resources regarding each training topic. Figures, forms, and reference and resource lists
