VIEWED AS A PRIMARY CONTEXT FOR SOCIALIZATION, SCHOOL PROGRAMS ARE CONSIDERED IN TERMS OF THEIR EFFECTIVENESS IN PREVENTING, TREATING, AND REHABILITATING MALADJUSTMENT IN CHILDREN AND YOUTH.
Abstract
IT IS URGED THAT PRIORITY BE GIVEN TO STRUCTURING SCHOOL PROGRAM SUCH THAT LOW SELF-ESTEEM, INADEQUATE SKILLS IN INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS, BOREDOM AND FRUSTRATION WITH AN ENVIRONMENT UNRELATED TO NEEDS AN INTERESTS OF YOUTH BE PREVENTED. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE PREPARATION OF TEACHERS AND COURSES BE DESIGNED TO ENABLE THE SCHOOL TO BECOME AN EFFECTIVE DIVERSION FROM THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. SUGGESTIONS AND EXAMPLES ARE GIVEN AS TO HOW THIS MIGHT BE DONE.
