Abstract
This video, In Search of Law and Order: Young, Armed and Dangerous, is the second episode of a three-part series examining how three communities are working to keep troubled youth from becoming lifetime wards of the criminal justice system. This episode looks at the efforts by officials in Ft. Worth, TX to keep young offenders from a lifetime of incarceration. The Ft. Worth program works to provide innovative solutions to the incarceration of young people by focusing on the social, economic, and psychological causes of crime and violence. This episode follows the case of a 14-year old youth who has become involved with a gang. The program highlights the youth's involvement with T-CAP (Tarrant County Advocate Program), a community-based program that provides mentors for troubled youth. The episode also presents the case of encounter between an imprisoned convict and the mother of his victim. The other two episodes of this three-part series examine the successful initiatives being undertaken to assist troubled youth in the communities of Boston, MA, and Richmond, CA.
