A method applying a combinatorial electronic device called a "variable range adder" (VRA) automatically modifies addresses so that storage and retrieval conforms to the Bell and LaPadula (BL) security model.
Abstract
With this method, no interaction with software nor information labelling are necessary. However, the access privileges and requirements, and sensitivities of the information stored or retrieved, must be from the same totally-ordered set of sensitivities. The VRA is readily realizable in off-the-shelf electronics or, for those equipped, integrated circuitry. The BL model is well-known in the computer security community. (Author abstract modified)
