THE PROCEEDINGS AND RESULTS OF A VARIETY OF SECURITY AND RELATED TRIALS ARE DOCUMENTED AND SUMMARIZED IN AN ATTEMPT TO PRESENT BOTH THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE STATE AND THAT OF THE DEFENSE.
Abstract
A SUMMARY OF THE FIVE MAJOR PIECES OF LEGISLATION WHICH WERE USED TO DETAIN AND PROSECUTE THE INDIVIDUALS IN QUESTION IS PRESENTED. THE CRIMES AND ACTS IN QUESTION INCLUDE THE TERRORISM ACT OF 1967, THE INTERNAL SECURITY ACT OF 1950, THE UNLAWFUL ORGANIZATIONS ACT OF 1960, SABOTAGE AS DEFINED BY THE GENERAL LAW AMENDMENT ACT OF 1962, AND THE EXPLOSIVES ACT OF 1956. THE TRIALS ARE CATEGORIZED ACCORDING TO THEIR LOCATIONS. THERE WERE 14 DIFFERENT GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATIONS FOR THE 75 CASES TRIED. IN EACH CASE, THE DATE OF THE TRIAL, THE NAME OF THE ACCUSED, THE CHARGE, AND THE JUDGMENT (IF RENDERED) ARE PROVIDED. PRESS REPORTS FROM 16 DIFFERENT NEWSPAPERS PROVIDED MUCH OF THE INFORMATION FOR THIS COMPILATION. AN ALPHABETICAL INDEX IS INCLUDED OF ALL PERSONS INVOLVED IN THE CASES, EVEN THOSE ONLY BRIEFLY MENTIONED. (JSP)
