Abstract
PRESENTATIONS INCLUDE DISCUSSIONS OF THE EFFECTS OF TELEVISION VIOLENCE ON LEARNING, EMOTIONS, AND BEHAVIOR; IMPLICATIONS OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF TELEVISION (T.V.) PROGRAMMING ON BLACK CHILDREN; STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING CHILDREN'S TELEVISION; AND THE ROLE OF FANTASY AND PLAY IN CHILD DEVELOPMENT AS IT RELATES TO THE GENERATION OF 'T.V. WATCHERS.' AN EXCERPT FROM THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD ON TELEVISION VIOLENCE IS INCLUDED, AS ARE SUGGESTIONS FOR ACTIONS BY INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND COALITIONS OF COMMUNITY GROUPS. GUIDELINES FOR PUBLISHING A PRIMER ON TELEVISION, DEVELOPING A YOUTH PROFILE, STUDYING THE POTENTIAL OF TELEVISION, INVOLVING CHILDREN IN EFFORTS TO IMPROVE TELEVISION, CREATING MECHANISMS FOR CONSUMER FEEDBACK, CORRESPONDING WITH SPONSORS AND ADVERTISERS, AND GAINING THE SUPP0RT OF LOCAL ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS ARE PRESENTED.
