Abstract
Sentences are presented by jurisdiction, offense, and sentence range for inmates received at Maryland's Division of Correction during calendar year 1990. A total of 9,243 inmates were sentenced, and 43,836 probation cases were opened. Of these 53,079 dispositions, 82.6 percent were for probation supervision services and 17.4 percent for incarceration services. The number of probation cases opened declined by over 4,000 in 1990 due to the increased use of the Drinking Driver Monitor Program for the supervision of Driving While Intoxicated Offenses. An appendix identifies the specific offenses that make up each offense group and shows the frequency of incarceration and probation dispositions by specific offense. 1 appendix
