Congress has reviewed and passed into law Federal sentencing guidelines that will radically change sentencing practices in our courts.
Abstract
But whether the guidelines are modified as amended, the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 will itself spell big changes for the criminal defense attorney in the representation of clients. The following article looks at some of the potential problems with the guidelines and with the new drug law from the point of view of the sentencing advocate, one of the defense attorney's most important roles.
