Abstract
IN 1974 THERE WERE 12,000 YOUNG ADULT OFFENDERS IN THE COURTS WHICH REPRESENTS AN INCIDENCE OF 48 OFFENDERS PER THOUSAND POPULATION. CUSTODIAL SENTENCES AMOUNTED TO LESS THAN HALF OF ALL DISPOSITIONS FROM 1968 TO 1972.
