This fifth volume in a series on sex offender assessment, treatment, and community supervision in the United States and Canada presents 18 chapters focusing on sex offender theories, adult special populations, adult treatment, adult community supervision, and juvenile treatment.
Abstract
In Part 1 various sex offender theories are introduced. Sex offender trauma, attachment, and neurodevelopment; emotional development; and pathways to sexual offending are discussed in three separate chapters. Part 2 deals with adult special populations and presents chapters for clinicians; working with minority offenders; and outpatient treatment for the mentally ill. Part 3 discusses adult treatment and focuses on assessment, prevention, therapeutic aides, and spirituality used in the course of treatment. Part 4 addresses adult community supervision and presents parole strategies, transitioning from institutions to communities, and building support and accountability networks. Part 5 focuses on juvenile assessment, risk, offenders, and treatment. Author biographies; bibliography; tables, figures, and exhibits; and topical page index are provided.
