This booklet describes the features and uses of the Sexual Adjustment Inventory-Juvenile (SAI-Juvenile).
Abstract
The SAI-Juvenile is designed to identify sexual deviance and paraphilia in juveniles accused or convicted of sex offenses. It has 195 items, takes 45 minutes to complete, and can be scored and printed on site within 3 minutes. The SAI-Juvenile has 13 scales or measures. These are Test Item Truthfulness, Sex Item Truthfulness, Sexual Adjustment, Child Molest, Sexual (Rape) Assault, Exhibitionism, Incest, Violent (Lethality), Antisocial, Distress, Judgment, Alcohol, and Drugs. This booklet explains what is measured by each of these scales. The overall score reveals attitudes and behaviors that produce a sex offender profile. Each scale score is classified in terms of the severity of risk it represents. The SAI-Juvenile is available in Windows diskettes. These diskettes require a one-time computer setup procedure, after which SAI-Juvenile data diskettes (25 or 50 test applications) are used. Training manuals are provided, and new test users can be walked through these procedures by Behavior Data Systems staff. Annual database analysis has shown that SAI-Juvenile scales maintain very high reliability coefficients and minimum interscale correlations. All SAI-Juvenile scales have alpha coefficients well above the professionally accepted standard of .75 and are highly reliable. A sample SAI-Juvenile report is provided.
