Abstract
INTRODUCTORY SECTIONS OF THE MANUAL FOCUS ON SEXUAL ASSAULT SERVICES IN HENNEPIN COUNTY, CHARACTERISTICS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT (VICTIMS, ASSAILANTS, WHERE AND WHEN SEXUAL ASSAULT OCCURS, AND REASONS FOR THE OCCURRENCE OF SEXUAL ASSAULT), AND PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW IN SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES (DECISION TO FIGHT IN THE COURTS AND THE NEED FOR PROOF OF RESISTANCE IN CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT PROSECUTIONS). SUBSEQUENT SECTIONS DEAL WITH THE REPORTING OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND FEELINGS OF SEXUALLY-ASSAULTED PERSONS (RELIEF, SHOCK, GUILT AND SHAME, FEAR AND PARANOIA, DISCOMFORT, RECOGNITION, ANGER, AND ACCEPTANCE).
