The accuracy for sex prediction in non-Chinese crania is about 82 to 89 percent.
Abstract
Five measurements were made on 70 Chinese adult crania of known sex (51 male and 19 female); measure 1 -- cranial length, 2 -- cranial width, 3 -- cranial height, 4 -- auricular height, and 5 -- cranial capacity. The data were analyzed using Fisher's method which produced 13 discriminant formulae for sex determination with accuracy tests on the same series of crania producing correct results in 85.7 to 94.3 percent of the cases. The best predictor of sex is Z = auricular height minus 0.15436 cranial capacity (sectioning point = -101.54). 2 tables, 9 references. (Publisher abstract)
