This book shows why sexual harassment is a major issue for higher education institutions and what they can do to minimize its negative impact.
Abstract
Written by nationally recognized experts in sexual harassment prevention, including college administrators, university attorneys, educational law experts, student advocates, and university faculty members, the book includes extensive coverage of the legal ramifications of sexual harassment. Critical court decisions related to Title VII, Title IX, Equal Opportunity Commission guidelines, and the Civil Rights Act of 1991 are noted. The book also offers step-by-step instructions for creating effective sexual harassment policies and procedures, covers the emerging and explosive area of student-to-student sexual harassment, and explores electronic sexual harassment. Consideration is also paid to the handling of formal sexual harassment complaints and cross-cultural issues in and influences on sexual harassment. Book contributors conclude efforts to prevent sexual harassment must be fully integrated into the mission and culture of higher education institutions. Endnotes
