CASE HISTORIES AND SUMMARY THEORIES ARE PRESENTED ON THE SUBJECTS OF WOMEN EXHIBITIONISTS, CHILD MOLESTATION, INCEST, AND RAPE.
Abstract
EXHIBITIONISM IS DISCUSSED AS A HARMLESS SEXUAL OFFENSE. PARTICULAR ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO WOMEN EXHIBITIONISTS, AND IT IS NOTED THAT SUCH BEHAVIOR AMONG WOMEN IS GENERALLY SUBTLE AND SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE WITHIN THE FORM OF REVEALING CLOTHING STYLES. CHILD MOLESTATION, INCEST, AND RAPE ARE CONSIDERED HARMFUL SEXUAL OFFENSES. IN DISCUSSING CHILD MOLESTATION, IT IS NOTED THAT THE MOST DEVASTATING EXPERIENCE FOR THE YOUNG GIRL IS SEXUAL ABUSE BY A STRANGER. IT IS REPORTED THAT THE TYPICAL OFFENDER WITH RESPECT TO THIS CRIME CLAIMS A DRUNKENNESS BLACKOUT. THE AUTHOR MAINTAINS, HOWEVER, THAT SUCH CRIMES ARE CONCEIVED BEFORE OR DURING THE DRINKING. CASE HISTORIES REVEALING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE DONE TO VICTIMS OF MOLESTATION ARE INCLUDED. IT IS HELD THAT INCEST MOST FREQUENTLY OCCURS AMONG THE LOWER SOCIOECONOMIC GROUPS, DUE TO OVERCROWDING, LACK OF MORAL DEVELOPMENT, AND OTHER FACTORS. A CASE HISTORY OF AN INCEST OFFENDER IS REPORTED. IN CONSIDERING RAPE, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE RAPIST EXERCISES A HYPNOTIC EFFECT UPON HIS VICTIM, RENDERING HER PASSIVE AND OBEDIENT. THE GENERAL CONCLUSION IS THAT THE SEXUAL OFFENDER IS INADEQUATE AND USUALLY FROM A POOR OR BROKEN HOME IN WHICH THE USE OF ALCOHOL AND SEXUAL ACTIVITY WAS ABUSIVE. SEXUAL OFFENDERS WITH STRONG MOTIVATION FOR CHANGE ARE BELIEVED TO SHOW ENCOURAGING RESULTS UNDER TREATMENT. (RCB)
