Abstract
THE SEXUAL OFFENSE EXAMINATION FORMS DESCRIBED IN THIS REPORT WERE INTRODUCED FOR USE BY THE LONDON METROPOLITAN POLICE. DESIGNED ON THE BASIS OF ONE PER SUBJECT, WHETHER MALE OR FEMALE, COMPLAINANT OR SUSPECT, THE FORMS IN QUESTION ARE FOR COMPLETION AT THE MEDICAL EXAMINATION, PREFERABLY BY FORENSIC PHYSICIANS. DETAILED COMMENTS ON THE VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE FORM, AND ON SAMPLES AND THEIR STORAGE, ARE CONTAINED IN THIS REPORT, INCLUDING QUESTIONS DEALING WITH DATE AND TIME OF THE ALLEGED SEX OFFENSE (BASED ON RECENT FINDINGS ON THE SURVIVAL TIME OF GENITAL MATERIAL ON SWABS); CONTRACEPTIVES; LUBRICANTS; BLEEDING SITES AND POSSIBLE BLOOD AND SALIVA SAMPLES FROM COMPLAINANTS AND SUSPECTS; VAGINAL AND PENILE SWABS; HAIR AND OTHER SAMPLES. A COPY OF THE TWO-PART FORM IS INCLUDED IN THE TEXT AND A BIBLIOGRAPHY IS APPENDED.
