Abstract
THE SUMMARY BRIEFLY DESCRIBES THE HISTORY AND OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM, TOGETHER WITH EVALUATION FINDINGS ON THE PROGRAM'S IMPACT ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM OPERATIONS, RECIDIVISM, AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT COSTS. DATA ON SAVINGS IN JAIL-DAYS AND PROBATION-MONTHS ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE DIVERSION PROGRAM AND ON REARRESTS AND CONVICTIONS FOR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS AND A CONTROL GROUP ARE INCLUDED.
