These charts provide comparative data on shock incarceration programs throughout the country.
Abstract
The first chart presents information on the numbers and costs of shock incarceration programs, with data in the following categories: (1) Has shock or boot camp program; (2) Length of program; (3) When started or will start; (4) For males, females, both; (5) How many program can handle; (6) Number who have completed program; (7) Success rate; and (8) Per diem cost for each participant of shock program; prison, if sent there instead. The second chart presents information on the programs and requirements, with data in the following categories: (1) Participant assigned to program by courts/department; (2) Assignment made as alternative to prison/from prison; (3) Participation voluntary? (4) Program located in regular prison/separate camp or facility; (5) Program includes drug/alcohol treatment; education; counseling/therapy; work; and (6) Requirements for participation.
