Abstract
THIS FILM DEALS WITH SHOPLIFTING IN RETAIL STORES, WITH ALL TYPES OF GOODS. METHODS OF SHOPLIFTING ARE SHOWN UNDER ACTUAL STORE CONDITIONS. SUCH SHOPLIFTING TECHNIQUES AS THE 'BOOSTER BOX', HIDING GOODS UNDER CLOTHING, CONCEALING MERCHANDISE IN BAGS OR MAGAZINES CARRIED INTO THE STORE, OR LEAVING THE STORE WHILE WEARING STOLEN CLOTHING ARE ALL PRESENTED. FACTORS WHICH FACILITATE SHOPLIFTING ARE ALSO REVIEWED. AMONG THESE ARE LARGE DISPLAYS AND LACK OF SALES PERSONNEL. PREVENTIVE MEASURES SUCH AS LOW DISPLAY SHELVES, ADEQUATE LIGHTING, OBSERVATION CAMERAS, AND ATTENTIVE SALES PERSONNEL ARE SUGGESTED.
