THIS REPORT SETS FORTH PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS TO BE WEIGHED WHEN EVALUATING EXISTING SYSTEMS OR DEVELOPING SECURITY PLANS FOR NEW CENTERS.
Abstract
SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON STRIKING THE PROPER BALANCE BETWEEN THE CENTER'S NEEDS AND THE PUBLIC'S ACCEPTANCE. IT OUTLINES THE COMPLICATED PLANNING THAT IS REQUIRED TO CREATE A 'SECURE' SHOPPING ENVIRONMENT WHICH DOES NOT DETRACT FROM THE ATTRACTIVENESS AND CONVENIENCE OF THE SHOPPING CENTER. SUCH A PROCEDURE INVOLVES EVALUATION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CENTER AND ITS ENVIRONMENT, REVIEW OF LOCAL FACILITIES AND SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THE CENTER, AND CONSTANT RE-EVALUATION OF PROGRAMS, PROCEDURES AND PERSONNEL IN THE LIGHT OF ACTUAL OPERATING CONDITIONS AND BUDGET. A SELECTION OF REPRESENTATIVE REPORT AND RECORD FORMS USED BY VARIOUS SHOPPING CENTERS IS INCLUDED.
