THIS COLLECTION OF ARTICLES IS INTENDED TO AMPLIFY SOME OF THE ARGUMENTS CONTAINED IN THE BRITISH TELEVISION SERIES 'SIGNS OF TROUBLE,' WHICH DEALS WITH JUVENILE DELINQUENCY.
Abstract
ONE ARTICLE CONTAINS A SURVEY OF THE MAJOR THEORETICAL ATTEMPTS AT EXPLAINING DELINQUENCY AND ASSESSES THEIR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES. ANOTHER COMMENTATOR PROVIDES AN HISTORICAL AND CRITICAL ACCOUNT OF THE EMERGENCE OF OUR PRESENT LEGAL AND INSTITUTIONAL PROCEDURES FOR DEALING WITH THE DELINQUENT AND THE 'CHILD IN TROUBLE.' FURTHER, ONE OF THE ARTICLES INDICATES SOME OF THE PROBLEMS WHICH HAVE TO BE OVERCOME IN THE PREPARATION OF SUCH A TELEVISION SERIES, AND THEN EXAMINES SOME OF THE AREAS WHICH WERE NOT COVERED OR WERE GIVEN ONLY SUPERFICIAL TREATMENT IN THE PROGRAMS.
