THIS PAPER BRIEFLY EXAMINES THE PROJECT IN LIGHT OF ITS STATED GOALS AND OBJECTIVES WITH PARTICULAR EMPHASIS ON THE PROGRAM'S ABILITY TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM AMONG ITS POPULATION.
Abstract
THE PROJECT CAME INTO EXISTENCE AS A RESULT OF THE OBSERVATIION THAT MANY JUVENILE DELINQUENTS WERE NOT ATTENDING SCHOOL IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THEIR JUVENILE COURT REFERRAL. THE RESEARCHERS FOLLOWED-UP ON 39 CLIENTS WHO HAD RECEIVED REMEDIAL EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO FORMAL PUBLIC SCHOOLING TO MEASURE CRIME REDUCTION AND RECIDIVISM.
