Twenty-one true-crime stories across Kent County, Michigan are recounted in an exploration of the world of forensic science.
Abstract
Authors continue an investigation of the world of forensic science presenting some of Kent County, Michigan’s most captivating true-crime cases. Specifically, 21 cases of perverse stories of those entering the doors of the Kent County Morgue are examined. Highlight of these cases include: (1) a hippie retreat organizer and his fellow partiers’ dreams are burst when they draw the ire of a local prosecutor--Federal law enforcement is called in and a Waco-like situation ends in tragedy with the leader killed; (2) a serial killer with a nationwide body count murders two young men in Grand Rapids; (3) law enforcement find a Nigerian businessman entombed in cement in a subbasement shot several times in the head two suspects are arrested, who subsequently turn on each other causing lengthy courtroom drama; and (4) a series of deaths occur in a nursing home raising suspicion about two nursing home aides; while, investigators exhume the bodies to look for evidence of foul play, interviews with the suspects begin to indicate the strange story of a love affair and a pact made with murder.
