This short story is from a series of short stories about working in residential group care of children and adolescents.
Abstract
The author is well known to child care workers and others in residential group care of children and adolescents as a leading proponent of professional education for child care work. He is a long-experienced practitioner and director of the Child and Youth Care Learning Center, sponsored by the Wisconsin Association of Child Care Workers in cooperation with the Division of Outreach and Continuing Education, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The story focuses on an emotionally disturbed boy's first visit to a psychiatrist as part of his treatment in a residential group center. (Publisher abstract modified)
