Activities of the Skinheads are discussed.
Abstract
This issue reports the results of a nationwide survey by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) shows racist Skinheads active in 31 States, numbering a total of about 3,000 members. The southeastern States have experienced the greatest membership growth since the last ADL survey. Survey results also indicate two trends are adding to the dangers posed by Skinheads: a pattern of recruitment and activity in high schools and the acquisition of deadlier weaponry. This issue details the movement of Skinheads from the streets into the schools, showing the Skinheads' impact on the students directly involved and on the entire school community. Also included is a discussion of Skinheads' connections with other extremist groups as well as between and among various regional Skinhead groups. Region-by-region breakdowns and summaries of Skinhead activities are provided. Actions taken by the ADL to inform communities about the nature of the Skinhead threat are described. Suggestions for future legislative action are proposed and increased law enforcement efforts are urged. A listing of the national, regional, and overseas offices of the ADL is provided.
