This article describes the touted and invaluable Snipercraft training program for snipers and specifically, SniperWeek, a police sniper training event and component of Snipercraft.
Abstract
Snipercraft was formed as a nonprofit training for snipers. Its focus has been and continues to be on providing a network for gathering and sharing realistic information, as well as educating snipers, their supervisors, and the public. The impact of Snipercraft on the police sniper community has been tremendous. Snipercraft is comprised of a quarterly newsletter, sniper schools, lectures, and SniperWeek. This article focuses on and describes SniperWeek which began as a gathering for snipers to exchange information. Today, it is recognized as the ultimate police sniper-training event. It begins with a 2-day educational seminar and concludes with the most relevant police sniper tournament in the country. The Snipercraft Challenge is a training event that consists of eight courses of fire; a 2-day test of the skills needed in the field to succeed as a police sniper. Successful sniper teams need good training and good information. Snipercraft and SniperWeek provide both.
