INTERRELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC VARIABLES AND JUVENILE DELINQUENCY RATES ARE THE OBJECT OF THIS STUDY, WHICH RELIES ON CENSUS DATA FORM LONDON, ONTARIO.
Abstract
USING MULTIPLE REGRESSION ANALYSIS, TWO ALTERNATIVE MODELS HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED TO EXPLAIN FLUCTUATIONS IN JUVENILE DELINQUENCY RATES. THE FORMER USES POPULATION CHARCTERISTICS, WHILE THE LATTER RELIES ON DOMESTIC CHARACTERISTICS. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT SOCIO-ECONOMIC VARIABLES MAKE MORE VIABLE PREDICTORS OF DELINQUENCY RATES THAN THE DOMESTIC-RELATED VARIABLES OF FAMILY MOBILITY AND FAMILY SIZE. --SUMMARY IN FRENCH
